Birth Education
This is not your regular birth education course!
OMP is unique and it works!
Hi, I’m Kiran, your local birth doula
and childbirth educator.
I offer one day small group classes (maximum of 6-8 couples) or 1:1 private sessions tailored to your individual needs. I take parents from unsure of their birth options to empowered birth badass'
I weave birth education with practical skills and tools for both you and your partner, hypnobirthing techniques (without the fluff), breathing and mindfulness to offer you a unique birth education and/or doula experience.
“OMP is bringing alignment and mobility within the mother’s pelvis enabling the baby’s cardinal movements to facilitate labour progress”
That leads me to OMP
(optimal maternal positioning).
I have seen the profound impact doing this work can have to support an efficient and more comfortable birth, whether you are hoping for an unmedicated or physiological birth, to those wanting an epidural and needing skills to help baby navigate your pelvis while you are bound to the bed.
I’ve been practicing this method with my doula clients for some time now and have noticed the positive influence it is having.
This is the stuff they won’t teach you in a hypnobirthing course,
but it’s what you actually need to learn about!
Daily movements you can do for 15-20 mins per day during pregnancy that will actually help you have a more efficient birth.
How to facilitate labour progress (that doesn’t just rely on cervial dilation).
How your body and pelvis function during birth and how to create space within your body to help your baby navigate it with ease during labour.
What your contraction patterns
are tell you and how to identify any potential
“road blocks” in your labour.
How to navigate “road blocks” with practical evidence-based tools.
How to avoid medical pain management like epidurals, OR how to use them effectively to continue labour progress.
Active birth positioning and comfort measures.
How to manage posterior, breech or a presentation that may impact labour progress.
Breathing & mindfulness.
Practical tools for your partner to be the BEST support person during labour.
PLUS you’ll receive access to the online OMP for parent’s course to refer back to anytime!
Please note: Partner or chosen support person MUST attend the course with you.

FAQ’s
-
Optimal Maternal Positioning aka OMP has a direct impact on your baby’s positioning. Creating a smooth path for the baby to navigate through the pelvis during labour and birth depends on the ability for the baby to work through the cardinal movements during the processes of descent and dilation. So the teamwork between the mother and her baby will give her the best chance of a more easeful birth.
-
Movement, particularly Optimal Maternal Positioning (OMP), is highly useful during labour and birth because it aligns the body with the natural mechanics of childbirth.
Movement helps the pelvis and uterus to adopt positions that support the baby’s descent and rotation, reducing pressure on key nerves and blood vessels and improving overall comfort. Upright or forward-leaning postures, gentle swaying, rocking, and squatting encourage gravity to assist with fetal descent and can make contractions more efficient and less painful.
OMP specifically focuses on positions that optimize pelvic dimensions and the alignment of the baby in the birth canal. By changing positions frequently, the birthing person can reduce back labour, improve oxygenation for both parent and baby, and maintain momentum in the labour process. Movement also
helps release tension in the hips, back, and perineum, which supports oxytocin flow and reduces the likelihood of adrenaline spikes that can slow labour.
In essence, movement and OMP allow the body to work with gravity and anatomy, making labour more efficient, less painful, and hormonally supported, while giving the birthing person a sense of control and agency.
This course, along with the hypnobirthing, mindfulness and breathing techniques will offer you a well-rounded and practical education experience that puts YOU in the drivers seat of your birth!
This is the stuff your hospital birth course won’t teach you, but that you actually need to know!
